Who We Are?
Founder & Vision Bearer SSuRESO
Rev. Datiro Emmanuel Ruben, a South Sudanese refugee currently living in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, is the visionary behind the South Sudanese Refugee Education Support Organization (SSuRESO). Having experienced the hardships of displacement since the age of 12, Rev. Datiro’s journey has been one of resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to education and humanitarian service.
Despite facing multiple exiles, he pursued his studies with determination, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies from Kampala International University and a Master’s in Business Administration, majoring in Human Resource Management. His passion for serving displaced communities has seen him work with organizations such as World Vision, Tearfund, and the African Union, alongside his 28 years of ministry as an Anglican evangelist.
As the Executive Director of SSuRESO, Rev. Datiro leads efforts to provide education support to refugee children, ensuring they have access to learning opportunities that can transform their futures. Through the generosity of compassionate donors like Rowan O’Rilley, SSuRESO has sponsored over 30 refugee students from South Sudan, DR Congo, Central Africa, Sudan, and Uganda.

About SSuRESO
Welcome to SSuRESO – South Sudanese Refugee Education Support Organization
At SSuRESO, we believe in the transformative power of education. Founded as a registered Community-Based Non-Profit Organization, our mission is to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged refugee youth and children in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement and beyond.
Our journey began with the visionary efforts of Evangelist Emmanuel Datiro, who personally supported 49 needy youths and children from 2017 to 2023. Inspired by his compassion and the principle of “I should support the needy when I can because I was once needy and was supported by others,” SSuRESO was established to expand this impact.
Today, we are proud to be a beacon of hope, offering scholarships, career guidance, and capacity-building programs to disadvantaged young people. Our vision is to create an educated and creative youth population that will transform future societies.
